Window and seat motors can be checked on the bench with a power supplied from a battery pack, battery charger or jumper wires from a 6V or 12V battery which ever is applicable.

Both motors have the same color coded wires. black, green, yellow and red.

  1. Connect the negative jumper wire to black motor wire.
  2. Connect the positive jumper wire to green motor wire.
  3. Touch the yellow wire to the green wire and the positive connection. The motor should operate.
  4. Remove the yellow wire and touch the red wire to the green wire and the positive connection. The motor should operate in the opposite direction.

When connecting the the green and black ground wire a slight arc may occur. If a heavy arc occurs the motor may have an internal short.

A word of caution: Do not leave positive power connected to the green wire for an extended time. The motor will over heat.

Be sure to secure motor from movement before testing.
