Convention check-in opens at Sheraton. 9 AM to 5 PM. Drawing from the first 50 registrants checking in for a free suite upgrade. (1 photo available)

Wednesday, Aug. 21
Convention check-in at Sheraton. 9 AM to 5 PM
Tour: John Wayne Birthplace & Museum. Bus 1 departs from Sheraton at 1 PM, Bus 2 follows at 1:45 PM. The humble home where Marion Robert Morrison was born in 1907, alongside a museum filled with displays, artifacts, and memorabilia of the legendary John Wayne.
Welcome Party 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Sponsored by Hills Automotive Classic Car Restoration & Parts. Tavern Pizza & Pasta Grill, 1755 50th St (Across the street from Sheraton). Salad, pizza, and pasta buffet included with registration. Cash bar for soft drinks, beer, and wine. Welcome Party is included with registration but you must select it on your registration to receive a ticket.
Thursday, Aug. 22
Judges Training 9 – 11:30 AM. Registered convention attendees are welcome to sit in and learn but be sure to mark this on your registration to reserve a slot.
The hotel shuttle will be available to take you to Jordan Creek Mall for shopping,
Tour: Busses depart from Sheraton at 1 PM for Dennis Albaugh Collection & Karl Kustoms. The famous Albaugh collection is not open to the public but permission was granted for our group to tour the collection, which contains mostly Chevrolets – he has at least one Chevy convertible every year from 1913 through 1976, plus several rare COPC Camaros and one of every color 1957 Chevy convertibles (17 in all), and many Corvettes. He has doubled the space since we toured it in 2013 at the Regional.
Karl Kustoms encompasses 45,000 square feet and has turned out many National Award-winning Street Rods. They do everything onsite except chrome…have their own engine building area, high-tech paint booths, upholstery department, race car and truck departments plus auto and racing accessories. They are nationally known in Street Rod and Racing circles.
Friday, Aug. 23
Owners and Judges Meeting 8 AM. All owners having a car judged must attend to receive instructions and judging paperwork. Judging begins at 9 AM and continues until complete with a lunch break provided for judges. Cars must remain in place until released.
Tour: Busses depart Sheraton at 11 AM. Lunch is on the 33rd floor of the Ruan Center in Downtown Des Moines, overlooking the Iowa State Capital Building. After lunch, you will bus to the East Village in Downtown for a couple hours of shopping then return to the Hotel around 3:30 PM.
Dinner on your own.
Saturday, Aug. 24
Swap Meet 7 – 9 AM. In the trailer parking area across from hotel.
CTCI Board Meeting followed by Membership Meeting. 9:30-11:30 AM
The hotel shuttle will be available to take you to Jordan Creek Mall for shopping.
Driving Tour: Departs at 12:30 PM. Destination: American Dream Machines. https://www.admcars.com/
Award Banquet: Social hour starts at 5:30 PM with a cash bar available. Dinner is served at 6:30 and the Awards Program starts at 7:15. Banquet is a plated meal with your choice of three proteins: glazed Iowa pork chop, stuffed chicken breast, or grilled salmon fillet with lemon butter. (Don’t forget to mark your selection on your registration.) On the side, enjoy a salad, a chef’s choice starch dish, seasonal vegetables, rolls, and of course, dessert.
Sunday, Aug. 25
Enjoy one last free breakfast, say “so long” to your friends, and have safe travels!
